Photon

I wonder if you know that PHOTON is one of the most controversial terms of physics. However, if you ask any scientist about photon, they will certainly give you some sort of direct answers (by the way, "photon" was coined by physical chemist G. N. Lewis in 1926). In this respect, I want you to explain your own perspective regarding the conception of PHOTON. What does photon mean in your mind?

I think photon is a electromagnetic fileld that carry momentum and energy.

Parcel of energy brought through electromagnetic field! You know?! we need it for life!!! A bit biological but hope it's not wrong.

Photon is the quanta of light (in general electromagnetic field). This quantization emerges just when there is an interaction between light and matter. What is happened is absorption and emission of light from matter in form of photon in some processes, but the controversial aspect of this definition is the energy of the quanta which is proportional to the frequency of light as a wave. We don't know yet what is the nature of light. Quantum mechanics couldn't tell us about the nature of wave-particle duality. The question is "what is the whole structure of the matter and light which shows these properties?".

Dear Mohammad
I had scheduled to write here for a while; but I have not find appropriate time for doing that. There are also lots of new things to write in response to Keyvan text and question (previous post). I try to be with you all in this place.
This is really thought provoking question. Photon as quanta of light is still a really mysterious concept. Duality of photon, as all of us know, strongly suggests that one would see the photon as a particle in case someone setting up an apparatus to observe photons as packet of waves. Otherwise photons would show wave behavior. I personally understand this deeply when I look at a wave-packet, a quantum particle that is resulted from an interference of plane-waves. Interference never could happens in the absent of boundaries, i. e. a measurement tools. I can understand a quantum particle just through interference patterns. There is a hyper-reality beneath the concept of particle which is only understandable through interactions of a matter with its space or a holistic identity with strong correlations. I strongly believe in holistic nature of microscopic phenomena (remind pair photon thought experiments). I am not familiar with Field theory, as far as I know the field theory suggest the first approach. I would be very happy if there is someone who is able to give a description of photons and its interaction with matter and even itself though concepts of field theory. I know a little bit about concepts of Bohm theory.
Bests wishes for you all;
Regards;
