John Norton

Being familiar with John Norton can be seen as the one of the most wonderful experiences I had in Arolla summer school. By the way, he is not that much rigid and firm as he looks in his web site. Just stare at his eyes in his photo to understand what I mean!

John is a famous man in philosophy of science. Thus, if you read his writings then you could also become famous somehow! He is a philosopher of science whose field of research is mainly focused on relativity (and in addition, a little bit on second law of thermodynamics). In this summer school, he had three lectures that their whole content can be found in the following web address.

His first lecture concerned about causality (Causation as a Folk Science). This lecture was related somehow to his third lecture named “That Damn Dome: Indeterminism in Classical Physics”. His second lecture was entitled as “Einstein's Methods and His Discovery of General Relativity”. I specifically recommend you his third lecture on indeterminism.
